Polyethylene Foam

Cross linked

Cross linked polyethylene foams are available in a variety of densities from 1.5 to 12 lbs per cu ft with thicknesses from 3/32" to 4" thick. The process of cross linking polyethylene enables it to be used for a variety of non-abrasive applications not normally associated with PE foams. Cross linking improves the resilience, elasticity, and temperature stability that allows the material to be used in a wider range of temperatures (-100o F to +180 o F). It has higher tensile and tear strengths, and thermo formable and vacuum formable smooth surfaces which eliminate abrasion. It is also ozone resistant. Many of these foams are compatible with food and can be used for medical applications. Special additives such as EVA improve softness, and FR meets the UL94HFI fire retardant test procedure.

Applications:

  • Automotive packaging
  • Consumer packaging
  • Medical Applications
  • Floatation Devices
  • Toys
  • Gaskets & Seals
  • Consumer Products
  • Decorative Packaging
  • Foam tapes
  • Camping and Exercise Mats

Non cross linked

Polyethylene is a closed cell foam available in densities from 1.2 to 9 lbs per cu ft Due to its resilient and flexible nature, it can take repeated shocks and still protect against damage. Its high load bearing characteristics help reduce packaging costs by using thinner and smaller amounts of foam. The tear and compressive strength allows users to reuse it reducing costs. Polyethylene is easily fabricated into a variety of shapes and sizes with inexpensive steel rule dies and custom cut patterns.

Applications:

  • Cushion packaging
  • Display packaging
  • Low pressure gaskets
  • Floatation devices
  • Material handling in and between plants
  • Insulation cushion devices for Construction, Medical,
    Recreational and Manufacturing applications
  • Available in anti-static grades for electronics packaging
